Dubai World Trade Centre’s (DWTC) Sheikh Rashid halls are located between the Dubai Metro station and the existing exhibition halls on a site that was previously used as a car park. The structure covers a built-up area of around 40,000m2, with internal dimensions of 325mx96m. The average height of the building is 15m and the internal space can be partitioned to provide a series of smaller halls as required for individual events. The MEP systems have also been installed in a manner that ensures this flexibility of use.
The DWTC exhibition hall was a fast-track project with an immovable deadline. Trans Gulf began work on 1 April 2009, and installation and commissioning of the MEP systems was completed on time within a scheduled six-month timeframe. The project had an effective construction period of 90 days.
Trans Gulf installed the full MEP systems for the project. The building and systems are fully functional and have been in use since 1 October 2009. The scope of work included the following:
